CT NEWS JUNKIE | 200,000 Celebrate UConn Basketball Teams in Victory Parade
Sunday's victory parade in Hartford drew more than 200,000 to the city to honor the University of Connecticut's men's and women's basketball teams for winning their respective 2014 NCAA championships.
Hartford police provided a "conservative" crowd estimate of more than 200,000 and said fans were respectful - not a single arrest was reported. Police said it was the largest crowd anyone can remember in Hartford.
The event was produced by the Hartford Business Improvement District, in collaboration with the City of Hartford and the State of Connecticut, and a number of civic and business organizations.

CT NEWS JUNKIE | Rowland Arrives, Departs U.S. District Court in New Haven
Photographer Douglas Healey was on hand Friday as former Gov. John G. Rowland arrived and later departed after his arraignment at U.S. District Court in New Haven.
Rowland pleaded "not guilty" to the seven count indictment.
CT NEWS JUNKIE | Gun Rights Advocates Rally At Capitol
The Connecticut Citizens Defense League sponsored a rally at the state Capitol to encourage lawmakers to repeal sweeping gun control legislation passed last year in the wake of the Sandy Hook tragedy. The rally drew supporters from states as far away as Mississippi.

CT NEWS JUNKIE | Spotlight Theatres Packed for AIDS Connecticut's 20th annual Red Carpet Experience
The 20th annual Red Carpet Experience event at the Spotlight Theatres in Hartford was a raucus success on Sunday, with wall-to-wall people decked out in their best Oscar nominee-themed costumes and black-tie fashions. The event featured a silent auction to benefit AIDS Connecticut (ACT).
ACT, in partnership with its member agencies, improves the lives of people impacted by HIV through care and supportive services, housing, advocacy, and prevention. Donate here.
Other special features included a VIP reception with local luminaries and elected officials from 6-7 pm, red carpet interviews with JAVA's Maryellen Fillo and WTNH's Teresa Dufour, formal or outrageous attire, prizes awarded for Most Glamorous, a signature cocktail called "The Chion Wolf of Front Street" sponsored by Peel Liqueur, large screens, and a private cinema for viewing the 86th Annual Academy Awards.
Delicious cuisine was provided by DISH Bar & Grill, Front Street Bistro, The G Stream, Half Moon Coffee & Grille Cafe, Max Restaurant Group, NoRA Cupcake Company, Peppercorns Grill, Pond House Cafe, and The Uncommon Cupcake.
Event Chair was Stephen Jewett of McDowell Jewett Communications, and Co-Founders are Colin McEnroe of WNPR and Peter Shapiro of Peter Shapiro Associates.
