NEW BRITAIN, CT - The 10th annual Race In The Park, sponsored by the Connecticut Breast Health Initiative was founded in 2004 as a 501c3 non-profit organization with a mission of making a difference locally in the fight against breast cancer through education and research in order to find cure.
According to the Initiative's website, Connecticut is ranked 35th in the nation for breast cancer mortality.

The 83rd annual Miss Connecticut Scholarship Pageant, a three-night run at Garde Arts Center, culminated with crowning of a new Miss Connecticut 2011 and Connecticut's Outstanding Teen on June 25th. Miss Southington Morgan Amarone, 23-year-old of Hamden, won Miss Connecticut 2011. Amarone, a jazz dancer, is studying for her MBA at Quinnipiac University. The following are Miss results: 1st Runner Up Jessica Lesage; 2nd RU Acacia Courtney; 3rd RU Brittany Monico; 4th RU Alexandra Tenney.
Connecticut's Outstanding Teen: Nicole Nemense (Overall fitness award and talent). 1st RU
Brianna Smail (Spirit of Miss America's Outstanding Teen Award; 2nd RU Annalisa Sega (Overall Interview award); 3rd RU Jaine Coann LeFebvre; and 4th RU Alyssa Anderson.
Scholarship Awards include $5000 Miss Connecticut and $1,000 Outstanding Teen. The total value of in-kind scholarships available to Miss Connecticut 2011 and runners-up is $103,100 through University of Bridgeport; Lincoln College of New England, Southington; Mitchell College, New London; Porter and Chester Institute, and Dale Carnegie Training contingent upon meeting admissions requirements and other university or college criteria.
