CT PHOTO JUNKIE | OneAverageRunner's Journey at the Badwater 2012 Ultra-Marathon
Retired U.S. Army Major Tim Hardy, a 51-year-old Connecticut native now living in Marietta, N.Y., finished the 2012 Badwater 135 Ultra-Marathon in Death Valley, Calif. on July 17 on his first attempt. Here below is the story of Hardy's epic trek through desert heat in pictures, but be sure to check out the narratives at Hardy's blog, OneAverageRunner.com, as well.
Hardy's Badwater team included Support Crew Chief Greg Hardy, 50, of Meriden, N.H., who has run marathons himself; Doug Hardy, 43, of Windsor, Conn., and Dan Hartley, 40, of South Carolina, who paced Tim for more than 75 miles. Hartley is founder and race director of the Harbison 50K Trail Race and the Columbia S.C. Marathon.
This album includes images captured by Doug Hardy of CT Photo Junkie as well as a few also from Sara Davidson of the Military Times' PT365 blog, several of whose images are reproduced here with permission.
